This is a fine argument for why we need to keep physical education in our school systems. Many schools are cutting PE for budgetary reasons and one of the common arguments is, “kids need to focus on school, not playing around.” I think Thomas Jefferson, a president/lawyer/farmer/architect, would argue for the necessity of PE in our schools for intellectual health.

 

“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus; and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” –Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee was known for pushing limits, both in his physical limits and societal limits. Everyone has obstacles and eventually we all hit that one obstacle that seems immoveable.  Remember, it is permanent if you let it. Work hard, think smart. You will overcome.

 

 

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” –John F. Kennedy

President Kennedy saw the importance of physical activity as it related to the progress of American society long before our health began deteriorating into what it is today. Decades before science backed him up, President Kennedy knew that a healthy and fit society would improve it’s intellectual makeup and continue moving forward in the areas of math and science. Maybe we should go back to that attitude.

How many of you have heard someone say, “I want to exercise but I just don’t have the time”? Have you said it? Even 15 min. of doing some couch dips, air squats, and high knees in your living room every day will improve your current your health. 15 min. of exercise vs 15+ years of treatment and drugs to help keep you alive. Your choice.

Personally, this is my favorite quote. It’s something we should all say to ourselves when we realize we’re begin lazy sacks. Or, whenever we say we’ll do something…whatever it may be. Silent action rewards us more than vocal inaction.

Originally from Washington, D.C. (NOVA) Josh moved to Atlanta to be a Middle School history teacher after graduating from James Madison University. He joined the Marine Corps infantry as a reservist and served in Iraq honorably. Josh then turned his attention to personal training after his tour in order to help others reach their health/fitness goals. At one point he was 275lbs and 28% body fat. Now he's 195lbs and 13.5% body fat. Josh worked for several fitness facilities in Atlanta and developed a loyal following of trainees.
